The SDA PWSA Futures Program develops, launches, and evaluates new technologies and concepts of operations (CONOPS) in space to reduce risk and determine readiness to proliferate in future tranches or other programs.

The Futures Program is preparing a variety of experimental demonstrations in support of regional Combatant Command and joint services, including:

• Integrated Broadcast System (IBS)
• Tactical communications satellite (TACSATCOM) support to the warfighter
• Data transport
• Missile tracking
• Other advanced projects

Starting in 2024, the Futures Program is home to the new Hybrid Acquisition for Proliferated LEO (HALO) project that is building a pool of non-traditional providers from the commercial space and national security industry to quickly build and fly focused demonstration missions end-to-end, launching two space vehicles per vendor 12-18 months after award.
